Pastor Lafayette Simpson, CPE.
Pastor Lafayette Simpson was united into the body of Christ at the tender age of seven under the leadership of Pastor E.W. Bothuel. He has been anointed to teach God’s word that has been nurtured by the Holy Spirit allowing him to grow stronger in Faith.
Along his journey serving in ministry for 17 years, he has been ordained and appointed as Chairman of the Deacon Ministry, and later accepting his call to preach God’s Word with being licensed and ordained as a minister. Also, his experience allowed him to serve as Superintendent of Christian Education and served as the interim-Pastor for the New Galilee Baptist Church and Bethlehem Baptist Church of Saginaw, MI.
On June 22nd, 2014- the Lord blessed Reverend Lafayette Simpson to be installed as the second Pastor of the 73-year-old congregation of the Bethlehem Baptist Church (Saginaw, MI).
To help enhance his spiritual gifts he pursued his educational career in 2000 by attending the Mid-West Baptist Bible College for ministry training in Pontiac, Michigan. In 2013, he completed 22 years of employment in management with PepsiCo to pursue full-time ministry opportunities. In 2014, he completed a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) internship at Covenant HealthCare Pastoral Care & Education Department and graduated on December 3, 2014, with his CPE certification from Covenant CPE program. In 2015 he was hired as a Hospital Chaplin at Covenant HealthCare. In 2016, he completed the Teachers Certification from the National Baptist Convention, Inc.- Nashville, TN. He plans on furthering his ministry knowledge by attending Moody Theological Seminary perusing a master’s degree in systematic theology.
Pastor Simpson has never been ashamed of his past because it was the life application to open doors for his present opportunities of ministry helping the lives of many that he meets.
He has been the recipient of many service awards including from the Governor of the State of Michigan, other local and national politicians, and organizations. His service through faithfulness speaks for him as he continues to be a change agent in our community.
Pastor Simpson is the father of Brandon (Ronda) Hendricks, Tamara (Grady) Shipman, and Jordan Simpson.
The Lord has really shown his hand upon the life of Pastor Simpson. His favorite scripture is “And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”- Romans 8:28.
